Moving from England to Northern Ireland means a ferry crossing, a delivery window that depends on the sailing, and a removals team that knows both ends of the route.
CrissCross Removals is based at Knockmore Industrial Estate in Lisburn. We collect from London, Birmingham, Manchester and anywhere else in England, plan the crossing, and deliver across Northern Ireland, with a fixed price confirmed in writing after a free survey.
Chris Magee founded the company in 2016, and a team of seven now runs four trucks from the Lisburn depot.

Three things make this move different from a long move within England.
It crosses water. Every move includes a ferry leg, and that shapes the schedule more than the miles do.
It stays in the UK. Northern Ireland is part of the UK, so for most household moves there’s no international customs process. That only applies if you’re heading on to the Republic of Ireland.
The delivery end is our home patch. We’re based in Lisburn, so we know the access, parking and streets around your new address.
The crossing is the part of the move that sets the timetable.
Ferries to Northern Ireland run on short crossings from south-west Scotland and longer crossings from the north-west of England. The right one depends on where we’re collecting from, so we choose it at survey and book it as part of your fixed price. You don’t arrange it yourself.
Sailings can be affected by weather, so we agree a delivery window with you rather than a fixed hour, and keep you updated on the day.
Aim to book around six weeks before your move date. Here’s how the run-up usually looks:
Summer and end-of-month dates book up first. Our three-week moving countdown breaks the final weeks down step by step.
Every move is priced after a free survey, because the cost depends on:
You get a fixed price in writing before move day. Our guide to how removal costs are worked out goes into each factor.
A few things work differently here, so they’re worth planning before you arrive:
nidirect.gov.uk, the official Northern Ireland government site, covers each of these in detail.
From our Lisburn depot we deliver right across Northern Ireland, from Belfast and the surrounding towns to the north coast and Tyrone. See the full list of towns we cover.
Boxes on a ferry move get handled more than on a local move, so packing matters. Our packing service covers full or partial packing with quality materials.
If you’re renting first while you look for a home to buy, or your completion date slips, our self-contained storage units hold your belongings until you’re ready.
Heading on to the Republic? See our UK to Ireland removals. Going the other way? We cover the reverse route to England too.
What a customer said about a move across the water:
“Chris and the team provided a full house pack and move from Belfast to Scotland for us and did the job perfectly. At a time when there was a lot to do there was great value in being able to walk of the house with everything in it and then have everything packed, transported and reassembled on the other side of the channel without incident or stress.” Jared, Belfast to Scotland move

For most household moves, no. Northern Ireland is part of the UK, so moving your home from England is a domestic move rather than an international one. It’s moves into the Republic of Ireland that cross a customs boundary. If you’re moving anything unusual, such as business stock, tell us at survey and we’ll check what applies.
It depends on where we’re collecting from, how much you’re moving and which sailing we’re on. The drive to the port is part of it, so a collection in the north of England usually takes less time end to end than one from the south coast. We confirm your timetable in writing at survey.
We pick it based on where we’re collecting from and your delivery date. Short crossings run from south-west Scotland and longer ones from the north-west of England. The crossing is booked as part of your fixed price, so you don’t need to arrange it.
We confirm what’s covered, including the ferry leg, in writing before you book. If you’re moving anything particularly valuable, such as antiques or artwork, tell us at survey so we can confirm cover for those items.
It depends on volume, where we collect from, the crossing, access at both addresses, and whether you add packing or storage. We price every move after a free survey and confirm a fixed price in writing. Our guide to how removal costs are worked out explains each factor.

We can collect on your moving date and keep your belongings in our self-contained storage units until you’re ready. That’s useful if you’re renting first or your completion date slips.
Beyond the removal itself, plan to register with a GP, set up domestic rates (Northern Ireland has rates rather than council tax), check school admissions if you have children, and update your driving licence and vehicle details. nidirect.gov.uk, the official Northern Ireland government site, covers each one.
A part load shares space on a scheduled run, so you aren’t paying for a whole vehicle, but your dates fit around the run. A full load lets you choose your dates. If your completion date is firm, a full load is usually the safer choice, and we’ll talk through both at survey.
